Beware the Internet Thieves

Anyone who attempts to make a living from working on the Internet will all too soon encounter the dreaded and persistent Internet thieves.

No, I’m not writing about the “business men” in Nigeria who desperately need your help to transfer $30,000,000 in secret money from their former Presidents bank account in Nigeria to your US checking account. For your cooperation they are generously promising to pay you a cool $10,000,000. All they need is for you to wire them $10,000 in good faith money so that their attorney can draw up the proper documentation.

You are way too smart to bite on that deal, yes? Surprisingly greed overcomes judgement to the tune of millions of dollars a year which gos to feed the Nigerian scam deal. It’s been running for years and is still going strong.

No, forget about the Nigerians, I’m referring to the more common thieves who try to pry $19.95, or maybe $49.95, or $99.95 from you and thousands of others who are desperately trying to make a few bucks from an Internet business.

These thieves are promoting their products by using slick websites and by the promise of quick money to be made without much effort on your part. Some of these guys will even promise to do all of the work and send you all of the money. Now these are truly generous individuals. Too bad they aren’t honest.

It not just that these thieves will take your money they will also take up a lot of your time as you pursue one dubious special offer after another.

Those who take the bait on these schemes are usually all too impatient to make money on the Internet. They are too quick to jump on deals without giving them much thought (after all it is a limited time offer and only $19.95 to get started) or any research at all. There is a lack of focus which is deadly to any business, on or off the net.

To make money on the Internet over the long run take your time in getting started. Decide in advance what type of business you want to have. If you decide that for you being an affiliate is best be sure to very carefully research any affiliate program that looks appealing. What level of support do they give? Is the product a superior product?

It’s a good idea to try the product for yourself so you will know if it’s the kind of quality you want to stake your reputation on.

How about tracking your referrals? How long do they give you to make the sale to your referrals after they have first visited your affiliate website. Do you get paid once for the initial order or do you receive commissions on reorders from your clients?

Signing up for an affiliate program is usually quick , easy and free. But none of that will make you any money. How will you promote your affiliate business? What conversion rate can you reasonably expect to achieve? Ahhhhhhhh. Questions, questions, questions.

There are a lot of deals around that suggest that you promote a bunch of programs under one umbrella program. Perhaps there is money to be made with some of these deals but be assured most of it will go to the promoters who use the programs to build their own downlines in the multiple programs under their umbrella.

Keep in mind that lack of focus is a leading cause of failure. My own opinion is that it is far better to only take on a very limited number of deals at one time. Each deal will require some time and probably money to promote so it is easy to get spread too thin if you try to develop a bunch of multiple income schemes all at once.

These days there are quite a few folks who are doing well on the Internet. They took their time in developing an intelligent business model before jumping into the business and once underway just said no to all of the deals of the day that steal attention, time, energy and money. Generally they focused on one or two businesses until they had a positive cash flow. They then focused their efforts further to refine the business and increase cash flow.

Making money on the Internet is a process that demands work in getting a business established. It then requires at least some time in maintaining the business. The ads that promise easy money 24 hours a day while you sleep and take long lazy days getting blasted on umbrella drinks while sitting in the sun at your favorite beach are not realistic.

Once established a successful Internet business is truly a wonderful business to be in as you do have much more freedom to spend your time as you wish rather than reporting to any office every working day.  But don’t be fooled by the Internet time thieves. You are going to have to put in some effort to get things rolling along in the right direction.

Beware the Internet time, attention and special limited time offer thieves. Even the free deals can be very expensive in time lost and in losing your focus on your slow but much more sound Internet business development plan.

The Internet thieves of your time are actually more dangerous than the men from Nigeria. At least when you receive a multi million dollar offer from someone far far away that you have never heard of you know immediately that it is a scam. At least you should know. If not, shame on you.

The Internet thieves that will waste your time and resources if you allow it can be much more difficult to deal with and demiss. Some of the offers do sound incredible. Gee, you might be missing out on something. Then once on the hook, wham bam, you find you need to upgrade to avoid being a second class citizen in the deal. Whoops, do I hear someone saying got ya?

My advice. Just say no.
