How can Spyware lead to people being fired or divorced?
There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of SPYWARE programs that allow people to monitor what you do online. There are spouses and employers (maybe even yours) that will secretly download SPYWARE programs onto PC’s so that they can monitor everything that their spouses or employees do online. These programs can do all of the following :

* Log every WEBSITE you visit
* Retrieve EMAILS you send and receive
* Retrieve INSTANT MESSAGES sent and received
* Record CHAT ROOM conversions made
* Make a record of Every PROGRAM that you run
* Log every KEYSTROKE you type

So you had best be a careful person online. There may be someone looking over your shoulder.

All humans are subject to temporary lapses in judgement and behavior that can come back to haunt them. Even the most faithful spouse may be a bit curious about an email or two inviting them to a questionable website. Perhaps even years later a few moments of visiting a porn website or chatting with a hottie in Brazil during a weak or curious moment may come back to cost you emotional pain as well as big bucks, a well deserved promotion or even your job. Your boss may not be so understanding if he receives a cd with your website viewing and chat room discussion habits as the featured subject.

There are also SPYWARE programs that allow people to secretly download images onto your PC. What if someone wanted to get you in serious trouble (one of your competitors for example) and downloaded a program onto your computer that allowed them to place illegal content onto your hard drive such as child pornography or terrorist activity files? This type of SPYWARE could get you in serious trouble.

This could be especially true if you are an American with the never ending War on Terror underway. Having the FBI show up at your front door at three o’clock in the morning would have to be an unpleasant experience.

How can SPYWARE and ADWARE infect your computer?

Your PC has a solid 90% chance of being infected with spyware and adware if you have ever downloaded any of the following: SCREENSAVERS, MUSIC , GAMES , MOVIES , or PICTURES.

What is SPYWARE Anyhow?

Spyware applications are programs and files that hide on your PC’s hard drive without your knowledge. These programs allow hackers and advertising companies to track your every move, both online and even when you work offline. They can track the websites you visit, the items that you buy online, the emails you send and receive, and even your Instant Message history and dialog.

Key logging spyware can even record your credit card number, personal identification numbers, and all of your passwords. The Internet is obviously a high risk environment unless you take measures to protect yourself.
If you use dial-up to connect to the Internet then spyware can be used to bill 900 numbers to your phone bill. This is just a short list of the harm that spyware can cause. Some programs can even destroy your computers ability to function. Why would someone want to do this?

Until recently hackers just wanted to show off their hacking skills. Now many are making a business out of it. It doesn’t take too long to become rich by emptying online checking accounts of their funds and by maxing out hundreds, even many thousands of credit cards.

What is ADWARE?

Adware applications are installed onto your PCs hard drive by Internet advertising companies that allow them to flood you with pop-up ads all day and night long. Have you ever noticed a strange icon on your desktop or start menu and wondered where it came from? Have you ever logged on to the Internet to find that your homepage had been switched? Are there strange search bars on every page you visit? These are all adware programs. These program can place icons on your PC, they can change your home page , and they can control your search engine results so you see the results that they want you to see.

If you spend any amount of time on the Internet at all you will probably eventually have an encounter with an adware or spyware program. More than likely it will be sooner than later.
