President Bush Deplores American Opinions

October 17th, 2007 by travelwell

In an interview with Wall Street Journal reporters yesterday that mostly was about trade issues President Bush deplores American opinions. According to President Bush the reasons the public is so skeptical of his policies is easy to explain. The problem is not with the policies — it’s with the American public’s opinions.

“We have lost sight of what it means to be a nation willing to be aggressive in the world and spread freedom or deal with disease. And we have lost our confidence in the ability to compete internationally,” Bush said yesterday in the interview.

Bush’s solution to restore American confidence and to promote correct thinking is ceaseless proselytizing — or, as he described it, “a sustained strategy to keep reminding people of the benefits of trade and the benefits of helping people become free.”

President Bush goes on to say “The job of the President is to have a philosophy that is good for the people, and articulate it, sell it, and work hard to — and work hard to make sure people understand the benefits of trade, in this case,” Bush said. “The fundamental question facing somebody in public office is, do you have a set of principles that you’re willing to stand by? And I do.”

Don’t expect that this President will ever change his opinions about anything. In his mind he is always right.

Ron Paul Republican Presidential Debates

October 12th, 2007 by travelwell

Once again Rep. Ron Paul demonstrates that he is the only Republican candidate for President who even vaguely knows how far the United States is slipping in its standing as a world power and that to reverse the slide the US must change many of its policies.

The other Republican macho men candidates prove once again that they are out to prove to all that they are all for the “war on terror” and that basically the US has to right to attack any country that we think may in some way be a threat, if not now, at sometime in the future.

Rudy “the opportunist” Giuliani shows yet again how ever other word must be “9/11″ and that he is the most macho of all.

Ron Paul did manage to double his fund raising in the second quarter to a bit over $5,000,000. That placed him ahead of John McCain. Let’s hope that Ron Paul keeps speaking out and that more people listen.

He really is the only candidate who makes any sense in his policies, and that includes the Democrats.

Iraq War Unintended Consequences

October 1st, 2007 by travelwell

Ron Paul is a Republican Congressmen from Texas who is an old fashioned kind of guy. He is realistic in his assessment of the unintended consequences of the war in Iraq and to the cost to American of staying the course with a failed policy.

Rep. Ron Paul still believes in honesty, integrity, the preservation of constitutional rights, and the right and duty of concerned citizens to speak out when they think that the government has gotten off course with its policies.

This makes Ron Paul a rare bird in Washington, D.C., the world center of the spin masters. Rep. Ron Paul makes as insightful and accurate analysis of the unintended consequences spinning out from the US invasion and occupation of Iraq as you will ever see in print. His remarks are posted below.

“Good intentions frequently lead to unintended bad consequences. Tough choices, doing what is right, often leads to unanticipated good results.

The growing demand by the American people for us to leave Iraq prompts the naysayers to predict disaster in the Middle East if we do. Of course, these merchants of fear are the same ones who predicted that invading and occupying Iraq would be a slam dunk operation; that we would be welcomed as liberators, and oil revenues would pay for the operation with minimal loss of American lives.
