Going Back to School at Age 40+
Have you flirted with the idea of returning to school, finishing school, or entering college for the first time, but felt discouraged because of your age? School isn’t just for the young, it is also for the young at heart! Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and go back to school. Education goes a long way these days. If you are interested in growth, development, and empowerment, head back to school. You owe it to yourself and it could mean a major difference in your future.
When most people think of school, young 18 to 20 year olds come to mind. The reality is that higher learning is not limited to a certain age group. Any person desiring to better themselves by going back to school is entitled and even encouraged to do so, regardless of age.
No person is ever too old to return to school. Going back to school may require a few sacrifices that may push you outside your comfort zone, however, doing so could turn out to be the most beneficial decisions you have ever made.
The world’s oldest college graduate, Nola Ochs, graduated from Fort Hays State University in 2007. She was 95 years old when she graduated with a degree in General Studies!
The second oldest college graduate in the world is Mozelle Richardson. She received a degree in journalism at the age of 95 years from the University of Oklahoma in 2004.
If these women mustered the gumption to go back to school, so can you. Don’t be discouraged. Be inspired. Think of all of the possibilities. Weigh the pros and cons.
Returning to school is an opportunity to:
