You don’t have to be Christian to appreciate the beauty of the free standing bell tower next to the Basilica di San Marco. Usually known as St Mark’s Campanile, this impressive protector of Venice has become one of the venerable city’s most-loved symbols.
The bell tower is one of the most prominent features of the Venetian skyline. It’s hard not to miss, at 323 feet (100 meters) tall. Made of simple and elegant brick, it stands alone in St Mark’s Square, housing five bells. Looking way up, you see a golden weather vane of the Archangel Gabriel standing on top of a pyramid-shaped spire.

Halloween is an opportunity to dress up in fancy dress and call on the neighbors trick or treating. Some families go out of their way to decorate their house and front yard in a ghostly and creepie Halloween theme.
Halloween is an ancient Celtic festival, and has lasted down the ages most strongly in the Celtic communities in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. From those countries, with immigration, Halloween has spread around the world, especially to America. In recent times, the spread of popular American culture has generated fresh interest in Halloween to new places, such as Asia and Western Europe.

John Taylor, an amateur astronomer, London publisher and mathematician began a study in order to analyze the measurements of the Great Pyramid. He wanted to understand the Great Pyramid from a mathematician’s point of view.
His conclusion was that the architect of the Great Pyramid was not an Egyptian, either by race or religion. He believed it would be found, eventually, that the measurements and contours of the Pyramid passage system, as its chambers, were intended to indicate a prophetic and historical record, especially in relationship to Biblical revelation.

One of the strangest and least understood myths of Ancient Egypt concerns the bennu bird or phoenix. A description of the symbolism which it was intended to invoke was given by Rundle Clark.
Clark: “One has to imagine a perch extending out of the waters of the Abyss. On it rests a grey heron, the herald of all things to come. It opens its beak and breaks the silence of the primeval night with the call of life and destiny, which ‘determines what is and what is not to be’…

Prior to the US lead invasion of Afghanistan some five years ago the Islamic Taliban had almost eradicated the growing of poppies and the production of opium. Drug use is forbidden under Islamic law and the Taliban were ruthless enforcers of the law.
The story is quite different today. The Taliban and corrupt warlords are cooperating in reaping immense profits from the drug trade. Often at the point of a gun they are forcing poor farmers to grow their crop of choice, poppies, which are used for opium production.
