Dance Lessons – Are Small Classes Better?

January 29th, 2009 by Assistant Editor

by Sarah Wilkiamson

The size of classes is a popular discussion these days and all of the positives seem to go to smaller classes. Smaller classes give the teachers a better chance of getting to know the students and to see when they aren’t fully grasping some aspect of the skill they are attempting to learn.

All students work at different speeds and dance students are no different to other pupils. A small class not only gives the teacher a better opportunity to cater for their pupil’s needs, but a chance to keep everyone learning at the same speed.

Large classes tend to make many children feel as though they don’t exist. This can often lead to them competing for attention. Dance is about creativity and self expression and if a child can’t feel comfortable and understood by their teacher and peers their dancing will suffer. It is always a shame when a young person’s creativity suffers because of a poor choice in school. This can lead to other difficulties and a loss of confidence.

Good quality dance schools have smaller classes, for all of the reasons outlined so far. Small classes are best for young people and help them achieve the heights in creativity they desire. There are a number of obvious advantages of smaller classes.

The security: A young person needs the security of a small class. The atmosphere is more like that that they will experience at home and this helps them to feel relaxed and makes learning more efficient.

D’Amato was a father figure to the fledgling Tyson; and his death led to the unraveling of this American sports icon.other boxers of this man. He has done prison time, fought drug addiction and generally become infamous both in and out of the ring.

Tyson made a huge splash in the sport, becoming known almost overnight as a champion in waiting. In his first 19 bouts, he won by knockout, often before the first round was finished! Even after winning the title, Tyson continued to defend the title and won other belts soon after. It seemed that he was at least for the time being, unbeatable.

For millions of fans worldwide, going to and watching their favorite soccer teams play each week is a joy. The experience is likely unmatched by anything else they have in their lives. It becomes a ritual of sorts and they eagerly anticipate the routine every time.

Traveling to football matches can provide as much of an adrenalin rush as the game itself. This can be the same when going to a match alone or with a group of friends. Fan clubs can organize large get-togethers before games, building up fantastic atmospheres as they head to the stadiums.

Some of the best stadiums around the world are filled with colorful banners and signs. These are often created by fans to encourage and motivate their teams, while declaring their undying loyalty. It is amazing how something as simple as a banner can add so much to a live sporting event.

Passing by crowds of fans making their way to the match, you can often hear and see them cheering wildly. They break out in constant song and continue to do so till the end of the game. It is hardly surprising that many end up building strong bonds and friendship through the process of supporting their favorite clubs.

It can a once in a lifetime experience to visit a live soccer match and hear the boisterous atmosphere that permeates the occasion. The songs and cheers can often be heard even outside the stadium enclosures. Even the non-football fan cannot avoid feeling an exhilarating sensation influenced by the joy and passion from the fans.

How to Thrive as a Thoroughbred Owner

January 14th, 2009 by C. Anne Baker

by C. Anne Baker

Whether you are a member of a horse racing partnership or syndicate or you are buying a thoroughbred racehorse alone, you need to know many things before you buy the horse. You need to know far more than the initial costs, the monthly maintenance fees, and the partnership structure and policies. You must know what to look for in a horse.

Do you know what a horse’s conformation is? Would you know if it was acceptable or unacceptable for racing? By definition, conformation simply means body shape. According to the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA), when considering a horse you should look at their balance, bone structure, intelligence, and their level and the athletic abilities. TOBA defines these four attributes as follows:

1. The balance will depend on how well proportioned horse is and whether its frame and muscle are well-suited.

2. Bone structure can be assessed by judging whether the horse is sturdy or lightweight.

3. The intelligence of the horse will be apparent in how well he keeps in control, how alert he is and how aware he seems of his own surroundings.

4. The athleticism of the horse will make itself known by the physically fit appearance of the horse.

Here are a few specific flaws in conformation that you should be aware of:

* Back at the knee means that the horse has knee joints that sit too far back, adding stress and risk to the knees. The horse may suffer from torn tendons or ligaments or from chipped bones with this condition.
