When you change your perception of your life, the world looks different. Optimism and pessimism are two sides of the same coin. Challenges, whether big or little, are given the proper perspective when you learn to be grateful for what you have already. You realize how truly rich your life already is.

Learning to express gratitude can take many forms. The first one that springs to mind is journaling. Another way to show others that you are grateful is to wear jewelry. Every day you wear it, you will be making gratitude a part of your life.

Why Gratitude Jewelry?

Jewelry can be created from various metals like gold and silver or other gems, crystals, and beads. Whatever its composition jewelry can add positive energy to your life through symbolism.

Gratitude jewelry is symbolic of what you feel inside. It reminds you to be grateful for what you have. It could be a pair of earrings, a bracelet or a necklace that you choose to convey this sentiment.

Wearing gratitude makes you constantly aware of what you have. A gratitude journal is a great daily exercise, but it can easily become a task and simply another thing to do on your to do list-that takes away some of the benefit of expressing gratitude. The power is in feeling gratitude, not in simply sitting down and doing something you should do. Wearing a piece of gratitude jewelry is effortless, it makes you feel good and gratitude becomes a part of your entire day.

Why Keeping Your Cool Will Get Back Your Ex-Girlfriend

Do you want to know how to get your ex-girlfriend back? This article will hopefully give you a few good strategies and perhaps a little encouragement and comfort, too.

Losing someone you love can be devastating, and feeling alone in it all can make the days and nights seem endless. Breaking up is hard to do- especially if youre not the one who wanted the split. Regardless, there are ways to deal with the pain while making a plan to get her back.

Where to Start?

Youve got to start with you. Stop everything for a bit and focus on you. Are you eating enough? Getting enough sleep and exercise? Youll be no good to anyone if you dont care for yourself. Keep up with a good work out program, stay shaved and well-groomed.

Resist the urge to overdo the alcohol. You need to stay clear right now, and alcohol only dulls the pain temporarily. You are going to go through some intense sadness and some loneliness, but you will get through to the other side.

Resist the Urge to Call

Resist the urge to contact your girlfriend. Dont invent reasons to call or visit her. Absolutely do not cruise her work or her mothers house or the club she frequents. That will not score you points and could be construed as stalking! Stay cool for a while. It wont be time to call until you are feeling less vulnerable.

What Are the Best Herbs for Anxiety?

March 6th, 2009 by Stephen Jablonski

by Stephen Jablonski

Herbs have been used for centuries in the treatment of anxiety and panic attacks. Even today’s anxiety prescription medication often contains an herbal component. That’s because these anxiety herbs have well known abilities to strengthen our body’s response to stress and also to promote relaxation and calm.

Herbal treatments are less expensive than prescription medications and offer a cost effective alternative to drugs. Herbs for anxiety treatment also have fewer side effects and the side effects they do have are usually much less severe than their drug counterparts. That’s because herbs are milder. Of course, this also means they work more slowly and take more time to be effective.

That’s not to say there are no side effects. Every chemical action must also have a reaction (side effect) and every body reacts in its own way to herbs and other supplements. So you must be careful with any supplement you take. That’s why I recommend that you not take any herbal remedy without first running it by your doctor or pharmacist. Now let’s talk about the anxiety herbs themselves.

Valerian

Valerian is a powerful anxiety herb. You can use it in the daytime to manage your stress and anxiety. You can also use it at nighttime to calm you down after a long day. And to help you get a restful, full night’s sleep.

How NLP techniques work

February 28th, 2009 by Ethan Beh

There are many people in the world who can attest to the effectiveness of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). So what is it about NLP that makes it able to cure phobias, break habits, develop confidence and change your internal state in such a short period of time?

To know how NLP works, we must first understand how our mind works. The human mind consists of 2 parts; the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is the part of our mind that is conscious and holding your attention now. It does all the thinking, the reasoning and analysis. The subconscious mind, is the part that is in the background of the consciousness. It functions as the memory bank, drives emotions, imagination, habits etc.

Whatever is inside your subconscious mind literally dictates your life. This is because our subconscious mind controls our beliefs, fears, habits and emotions ” and these are the things that control your actions and thoughts. Your subconscious mind is why you keep on doing something even though you intellectually know you shouldnt.

These beliefs, habits etc that we have was not consciously decided by us. Rather, it was developed from the past events and experience in our lives. Obviously, a man with phobia for flying did not decide to have that phobia. Something triggered that, such as a really bad flight experience.

Show Me the Way to Decoding the TOEFL iBT Writing Task?

November 28th, 2008 by Michael Buckhoff

Don’t start the TOEFL iBT Writing Task without reading this first!

When you start to take the TOEFL Writing Exam, it is important to read the question very carefully. You should examine what the writing task is asking. To demonstrate the importance of this, consider the following: Your girlfriend tells you to remove a food stain from the carpet. She tells you to use a specific chemical product called “Stain Be Gone.” You go into the laundry room and instead of getting “Stain Be Gone”, you get a different chemical called “Clorox,” which is bleach. You clean the carpet with the new chemical and what happens? The brown carpet begins to turn an awful shade of yellow! Now you had good intentions and you worked hard to clean the carpet, you did not get the results you or your girlfriend expected because you used the wrong product; consequently, you made the carpet worse.

This same example applies to TOEFL iBT writing. By not following the directions the prompt gives you, the end result will not be what the reader was expecting. Because of that, you will not receive the score you want. Consider the following three writing prompts:

1. Some people say that it is best to be loyal and to work for one company during one’s life. Others take the opposite view and say it is better to change jobs frequently in one’s life. Discuss these positions, using specific examples of both. Then tell which one you agree with and explain why.
